Where do you keep all your membership cards and rewards cards? I use to dig them up in my wallet. I mean who doesn’t like collecting rewards points? I love watching my points grow to see what I can use them for. But do you always use your points? Did you know that nearly $16 billion in rewards points have been unredeemed? OMG that is a ton of points.
Listen, I get it. I’m a hoarder when it comes to my rewards points. Well, imagine if you could use them right away while you’re shopping or out for lunch? Most of my cards are on my Samsung Pay app. When I found out RBC introduced Payback with Points at the Point of Sale I was jumping for joy. I can use my points to pay for part or all of a purchase with my RBC Rewards points. The other day I was grabbing a coffee and I was able to grab one more for my girlfriend just by using my points (no digging through my purse for extra change). I just tapped with my Samsung Pay app to pay and redeem my points, and the barista had our coffee ready to go. I still like to watch my points grow, and I can use them for bigger purchases too. But in this case, I was happy to use a few towards something simple as a coffee. RBC is the first bank in Canada to offer this unique points redemption option through a mobile wallet.
Ok so how does it all work? When using Samsung Pay, after swiping up for Simple Pay, you’ll see the option to pay with your RBC Rewards points under your RBC Rewards credit card. You can set the dollar and point value you would like to redeem for your upcoming transaction and boom! Done. So easy – and your points never expire. This weekend my hubby and I are going out for dinner and already plan on using our points. But shh don’t tell him I also bought a cute dress using my points. Give it a try this week and start using those RBC Rewards points up!

I saw your instagram post about you being a points hoarder and came to your blog. I had no idea RBC was doing this now. We switched over to banks last year. My points still need to grow but once I get there I’ll use them up
thx
