It’s that time of year! You know when the kids come home from school with a cold and you know it’s going to be in your house for awhile! My youngest is still in kindergarten and this time last year most of her class was down with the cold and flu. I can deal with the girls getting a cold but when my husband does. OMG it’s like having 4 kids in the house! Right! I know you’ve been there with your hubby!
In our house we survive the cold and flu season by eating yummy chicken soup, we turn on our humidifiers and we try and get sleep. Also, our one little secret that I want to share with you is I start up the crockpot as well! Ok not only is it for my chicken noodle soup but I also have a special drink I give to my #Specialkayes. I put in water, lemon juice, ginger and agave or honey (whatever I have in the house) into the crockpot and keep it warm and I get the girls to drink it. It’s great for hydration and it clears those sinuses. For the adults we have a separate crock pot with the same ingredients but we add cayenne pepper to the mix.
The other thing we do during this season is we stock up on facial tissues. My middle Specialkaye hoards the boxes in her room! If there is a red box or pink box….it’s in her “secret” hiding place (she doesn’t know I know where)! When you’re sick and you have a cold you don’t want to be using toilet paper to blow your nose! Oh and don’t even bother sending the hubby he’ll get 1 ply facial tissues. You and I know you gotta have the right facial tissues. Three ply facial tissues is the way to go. In our house we use Royale®.
Listen, we’ve all been to someone’s house and they don’t have tissues on hand and then they offer up toilet paper to blow your nose! Um No thank you! Anyway, when you’re out with a cold you should probably BYOB. Bring Your Own Box! However, if you’re invited to my place you know I’ll have Royale® in every room! Always with you especially in our house! What do you do during the cold and flu season? Any tricks you wanna share! I’m all ears and tissues.
